Welcome to the Bieg Lab at the University of Guelph!

We are ecologists who study the general rules and processes determining how ecological systems are structured, function and maintain resilience in changing environments.

We use a combination of theory, data and conceptual synthesis to address research questions relevant to ecosystems facing rapid global change. We are especially interested in aquatic ecosystems - particularly the Great Lakes - and aim to develop a scientific foundation that can ultimately inform management in these rapidly changing systems. Nonetheless, we regularly take inspiration from other systems towards building general ecological understanding.
